The most impressive castle is the current residence of the Grand Ducal family in Colmar-Berg. The route runs along the entire way along the Luxembourg-Ettelbrück railway line, so you can combine your trip with a train ride or even return to Luxembourg City by train. From Mersch, which is halfway along the route, a detour into the idyllic Eischtal valley with its numerous castles and fortresses is especially recommended. Follow the course of the Alzette through the capital to the gates of the Luxembourg Ardennes. Explore beautiful rural landscapes with meadows and orchards, scattered with isolated castles. Continuing on the CR345, you go through Welsdorf, Schirenermillen, Birtrange, and Grentzingen to finally arrive in Ettelbrück.
