The Minett Trail is a 90-kilometer long hiking route running across the Minett region. In ten stages, you can experience smaller and larger towns as well as eight nature reserves. These impress with ancient forests and former open-pit mining areas. With steep rock faces, red earth, and mine entrances, they are unique in Luxembourg.
On this section, you hike through the unique water and bird sanctuary "Dumontshaff," which, as a Natura 2000 protected area, provides habitat for several species. Here you can closely observe the diversity of the Alzette valley and river course, and with some luck, you may watch storks or lapwings nesting. Perhaps you will even catch a glimpse of the water buffalo grazing here—provided they don’t hide from curious eyes. The entire wetland area you walk through is equipped with a boardwalk to protect nature while still allowing you access.
