Bivels, Op der Millen

The rocky Lätgesbierg viewpoint near Vianden offers an alpine hiking experience in a spectacular natural setting. Lätgesbierg is a rocky viewpoint located on Nat'Our Route 5 and can only be reached on foot. Here, hikers can enjoy an almost alpine experience with an impressive view of the lower reservoir of the Vianden pumped storage power plant and the wooded banks of the Our. The viewpoint is located right on the German-Luxembourg border. This challenging passage requires good footwear and surefootedness, but can be bypassed on several hiking routes if necessary.

The Bildchen Chapel owes its name to a statue of Our Lady located inside. This Catholic chapel was built in 1848 in neo-Gothic style. Some parts of the chapel originate from the former castle chapel of Vianden. For many years, the statue called "Bildchen" was venerated on site. At that time, it was located in a rock niche that could only be reached via a narrow path. In 1848, a path was cut into the rock face and the foundation stone was laid for the chapel that was to house the miraculous statue. Several hiking trails lead past the chapel, which has been recognised as a cultural monument since 2019. The immediate surroundings of the structure are also considered a cultural monument.

Located directly on the Éislek Pad Vianden, it offers a breathtaking view of the forest and the Our. A charming little wooden hut stands on the rocky outcrop and is perfect for relaxing and picnicking. The picturesque surroundings invite you to unwind in this idyllic retreat. If you walk a little further, you will find a bench that is perfect for a refreshing break. After the challenging climb, a well-deserved rest is just what you need to enjoy the beauty of nature and recharge your batteries before continuing your hike. The viewpoint cannot be reached by car. In addition to the Éislek Pad Vianden, the Nat'Our Route 5 or the Autopédestre Vianden also lead there.
