Inaugurated in 2026, Memorial Parc Hosingen is dedicated to local history during the Second World War and the Battle of the Bulge. It focuses on four sites that are linked in different ways to the events of that time in and around Hosingen. The Hosingen Water Tower When the Battle of the Bulge began in December 1944, Hosingen lay right in the middle of the combat zone. The water tower at that time offered a sweeping view of the surrounding area and was therefore also of military significance. During their retreat, German troops blew up the tower to prevent the Americans from using it as an observation post. It was rebuilt after the war. The current tower, which is around 30 metres high, still serves as a water reservoir and houses an exhibition on Hosingen’s wartime history and the role of the water tower during the Battle of the Bulge. The interior and the view from the tower are accessible only as part of a guided tour. Information on the guided tours can be found below. The ‘Keystone in the Way’ Memorial The large bronze keystone commemorates the soldiers of the 28th US Infantry Division, who took part in the defence of northern Luxembourg in 1944. The ‘Keystone’ was the division’s emblem. The cracks and damage deliberately incorporated into the monument symbolise the fierce fighting during the Battle of the Bulge. The monument is freely accessible. The memorial stone at the German military cemetery This memorial stone was erected in 1946 by German prisoners of war in memory of their fallen comrades. After the remains were later reinterred at the German military cemetery in Sandweiler, the stone also disappeared and was gradually forgotten. In 2021, it was rediscovered and recovered during investigations at the former site of the mass grave. Since 2026, it has stood in Memorial Parc Hosingen as a reminder of this chapter in post-war history. The memorial stone is freely accessible. Memorial to the victims of war mines and munitions Unveiled in 2024, this memorial commemorates the people who died in Luxembourg as a result of leftover war munitions, particularly during the post-war reconstruction period. A QR code allows visitors to learn the stories of more than 230 documented victims. The outdoor area of Memorial Parc Hosingen can be visited at any time free of charge. Parking is available on site.

The Augustinian convent of Hosingen stood as a bastion of faith and education for centuries in the heart of the village. It served as both a sanctuary and a center of learning, nurturing the spiritual and intellectual growth of noble daughters from affluent families. Founded during the reign of Emperor Henry IV in the 11th century, the exact date of its establishment remains unknown due to the loss of its founding charter. Led by the Abbess Sara von Spanheim, the monastery flourished, providing not only religious services but also education for its residents and the local community. However, the monastery faced turbulent times, notably during the tenure of Abbess Irmengard von Stolzemburg, when Burgundian forces besieged and razed the convent during regional conflicts. Despite adversities, the Augustinian convent endured, nurturing generations of devout women until its dissolution in 1784 by Emperor Joseph II's decree. With the dissolution came the end of an era, as the convent's assets were auctioned off, and its noble inhabitants were dispersed. The former convent church transitioned into a parish church, symbolizing the shift in its purpose from contemplative solitude to communal worship. Yet, the monastery's halls bore witness to more than just religious rites. During the Peasants’ War of 1798, the church became a refuge for peasants turned warriors, who valiantly defended their way of life against Napoleonic forces, armed only with their artisan tools and fervent spirit. Today, the echoes of the convent's rich history resonate through the renovated halls, now home to regional social services.

The Our Nature Park is located in the north-east of the Éislek region. Covering an area of 420 km² with around 24,000 inhabitants, 8 municipalities have joined forces with the aim of balancing nature conservation and the economic development of the region. The border region along the Our river offers an impressive diversity of landscapes in a very small area. Valuable habitats for many endangered plant and bird species have been preserved in the wetlands of the plateaus and the remote areas of the river valleys. The charming towns of Vianden, Clervaux, Lellingen and Troisvierges are just some of the places you can visit in the region.
