Getting to Machtum by public transport

From the lively marketplace of the Moselle metropolis, the path initially leads out of the city into the vineyards. Before entering the Groussfooscht forest, enjoy the splendid view of the Moselle valley from this viewpoint. After crossing the forest, you will reach the road. Keep left, follow the road for a short distance towards Wecker before turning right into the vineyard of Rouderberg. From there, return to the starting point.

From the starting point in the center of Machtum, the trail leads past a number of beautiful winegrowers' houses towards the Haangeberg. From the viewpoint you can enjoy the wonderful panorama over the Moselle loop and the following national villages: Machtum, Grevenmacher and Mertert. Moreover you can enjoy a view to Germany and its villages Nittel, Wellen and Temmels. Equally remarkable are the steep rock formations on both sides of the river. The path continues over the hill with further beautiful views of the Moselle landscape, over the Grevenmacher woods to the radio towers in Junglinster and finally back down to Machtum.

Along this adventure trail, the hiker will discover the history of viniculture in Grevenmacher. The circular hiking trail starts directly in the protected nature area at a vineyard pavillon in the vineyard and can be traversed in both directions. You reach this starting point over a short access pathway from the cemetery in Grevenmacher. Or you can climb up at two other locations, from Deisermillen or from Machtum, into the circular trail. You will hike on the 2000-year-old tracks past vanished mills and mines and discover the rich variety of nature in the protected nature area of Kelsbaach. The 15 stations of this educational trail convey fascinating knowledge about the dry chalk cliffs, dark gorges and the biotopes. Enjoy the painterly panoramic view during your hike.

Located in the heart of the Moselle Valley between Grevenmacher and Machtum, the wine bar offers a welcoming setting in which to enjoy wines and Crémants from the Schlink estate. Its contemporary, light‑filled interior invites guests to take their time exploring the range in a relaxed atmosphere. Large panoramic windows frame wonderful views of the Moselle and the surrounding vineyards, while the spacious wooden terrace provides an ideal spot to sit back, savour a glass of wine or Crémant, and enjoy the scenery. Comfortable and inviting throughout the year, the wine bar is a popular destination for wine lovers, visitors to the region and those simply looking to enjoy a pleasant moment in beautiful surroundings. All wines and Crémants are available for purchase on site. Should the wine bar be closed, you also have the possibility to buy wines during office hours at SCHLINK domaine viticole (1, rue de l’Église). Wine tastings can also be arranged by prior appointment, including outside normal opening hours. Open on public holidays!

Claude Pundel, a passionate winemaker, took over the lead of the estate in 2002 and since 2008, he also elaborates the wines from the vineyards of Caves Pundel-Err. This allows him to offer excellent wines growing in the best locations (Koeppchen, Weinbour, Elterberg, Pieteschwéngert, Palmberg, Ongkaf, Gëllebour, Alwéngert, Widdem, Hohfels and Leitschberg) for every kind of taste. The offer: traditional types of wine (Elbling, Rivaner, Auxerrois, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Gewürztraminer and Pinot Noir), Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc and Riesling matured in oak barrels, Muscat Ottonel, Vin de la Barrique, Gris de Gris, Saint Laurent and 6 crémants, who have often won medals at the Concours National des Crémants de France et de Luxembourg. Cooks from the very beginning, we honed our skills in some of Luxembourg’s finest establishments before settling here, at the Auberge du Lac. We are two food and wine lovers who take joy in cooking and welcoming guests with heart. Our restaurant is located in the village of Machtum, on the banks of the Luxembourg Moselle, where a holiday spirit is always in the air. We welcome you from Wednesday to Saturday, from 12:00 to 14:00 and from 18:30 to 21:00. On Sunday lunchtime, from 12:00 to 14:00. Come enjoy the setting and the cuisine – a moment with family, friends, or as a couple – featuring seasonal dishes alongside the classics that have made our house famous, like the "bouchée à la reine" or Moselle fried fish.
