On the left, a human face appears with a small bird perched on the cap, representing trust and coexistence. On the right, a vibrantly colored toucan gazes toward the scene, creating a silent dialogue between human and animal. The intertwining shapes and bright tones immerse the viewer in a poetic, contemplative world. Through this vibrant composition, the mural pays tribute to the songbirds of spring and summer, inviting to slow down, observe, and cherish the simple beauty of the natural world.

The Auto-Pédestre hiking route Schieren starts in the village center, at the church. It guides you along the Kiselbaach, which it leaves after just under one kilometer to turn right. Now you make a large loop around the Knuppen, the hill in the east of the town. Soon you reach the highest point of the route and can take a break. Shortly before Matgeshaff, you turn right to get back to your starting point through the forest, passing Colmar-Berg.

The Kul’Tour Schieren invites you to rediscover the village in a new light, following a route marked by information panels that bridge the past and the present. At each stop, old photographs and photos from today taken from the same angle, reveal how the area has changed and tell the story of life in days gone by. Over the course of 1.7 km, you’ll encounter the history of the schools and the two railway stations, Villa Toussaint and the current town hall. The streets, farmhouses and even the old cafés, once at the heart of social life, are brought back to life through these visual records. Even where some buildings have disappeared, their memory remains vivid, inviting you to imagine Schieren as it was over a century ago. An accessible and inspiring walk, ideal for those who enjoy walking whilst soaking up local history.
