The museum in Wiltz castle tells the story of the dark period of the Battle of the Bulge in the winter of 1944/45. In addition to the unique wealth of documents, photos, pieces of equipment and weapons, the immeasurable suffering of the civilian population and the terrible fate of the soldiers on both sides are objectively presented. Of particular interest are the dioramas, e.g. about the cordial coexistence of the Wiltz population with the US GIs in December 1944, the desperate defence of the town by the US military band and the scene with the long-suffering civilians who, in gratitude for their survival, wrote a vow to erect the "Fatima Monument" in the ruins. Multilingual group tours are available on request.

The actual, first castle of Wiltz was located in Niederwiltz, where the deanery church stands today. It was supposed to protect the town from its enemies, but the location was so badly chosen that it was constantly taken. In the 13th century, searching for a more favourable location, the lords of Wiltz built the new castle on a higher promontory. In 1631, under the rule of Count Jan, construction began on the Renaissance castle that still stands today. The new building was completed around 1720. Today, the castle houses the National Brewing Art Museum and the Museum of the Battle of the Bulge, as well as a tourist information. In June and July, the staircase of the castle serves every year as the stage for the Wiltz Festival. Concerts, theatre events and other artistic performances are presented live on stage in the magnificent amphitheatre in front of the backdrop of the castle.

After the introduction of compulsory military service in August 1942, a general strike broke out in Wiltz against the occupiers. The strike movement quickly spread throughout the country, which the occupiers responded to with brutal violence. 21 Luxembourgers were executed. A monument in the shape of a lighthouse commemorates the victims of the general strike during the Second World War. It was built of Wiltz slate and inaugurated on 30 September 1956. On the street side, a relief made of red sandstone depicts the battle of the biblical David against Goliath and symbolises the courageous resistance of the Luxembourgers against the overpowering Third Reich. The reverse side shows Luxembourg strikers arrested and collapsing under bullets in the Hintzert concentration camp. The monument stands as a memorial to the free world to stand up every day against violence, oppression and disregard for human rights. Every year on 31 August, the courageous victims are commemorated in a memorial ceremony.

The base of the tower may have been built as a Roman watchtower around the year 300. It seems to have stood alone as a tower at first, and only later became the choir of the first church. The present old part of the church dates from 1510. The roof of the church tower was also built in the same year. In the basement of the tower was the burial chamber of the castle family. The Niederwiltz tower clock was already working 300 years ago. The two side altars, which were built as guild altars in 1720 and 1722, and the old sermon seat are remarkable. The burial chamber of the castle family was first opened in 1844. Two coffins and the bones of four dead people were found in the 12 x 8 x 5.5 foot vault. The tomb was opened a second time in 1859 and after everything had been recorded, it was closed again. When the church was rebuilt in 1937.1938, all the bones found in the former cemetery were poured into this tomb, which was thus largely filled. The nobility was now united with the people. In 1968, all the bones were moved to the new cemetery and the old church, which had been badly damaged in the Battle of the Bulge and rebuilt in 1946, was renovated. Inside, you can admire some tombstones of the nobles of Wiltz.
