Clervaux Castle is perched on the slopes of a rocky promontory above the city. Its origins date back to the 12th century, but it was built in successive stages. The oldest part, the west wing with the manor house, probably dates back to an initiative of Count Gerhard of Sponheim, the Count of Vianden’s brother. After its entire destruction on December 17th 1944 during the Battle of the Bulge in the Second World War, the government of Luxembourg acquired the castle and restored it completely. Since the 1970s, the castle has been home to various institutions, including several museums and exhibitions worth seeing: the Museum of the Battle of the Bulge opened its doors in 1974, the west wing of the castle houses the Museum of models of the Castles and Palaces of Luxembourg, and in the east wing you can visit the worldwide famous photo exhibition "The Family of Man", UNESCO World Heritage Site.

With over 10 million visitors since its creation, the world-famous photo exhibition "The Family of Man" is a legend in the history of photography. Created by Edward Steichen and presented for the first time in 1955 at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, it is considered a manifesto for peace and human equality, expressed through post-war humanist photography. The collection consists of a total of 503 photographs by 273 photographers from 68 countries. After travelling through more than 150 museums worldwide, the last complete version of "The Family of Man" is housed as a permanent exhibition at Clervaux Castle since 1994. Since 2003 it figures on the UNESCO World Documentary Heritage list.

The Musée Bataille et Châteaux - Battle of the Bulge and castle models comprises both the exhibition illustrating a historical moment of the Second World War, the Battle of the Bulge, and the exhibition of models of Luxembourg's castles built on a scale of 1:100 in the converted rooms of Clerf Castle. Using documents, uniforms, authentic weapons and reconstructed scenes, the exhibition illustrates the historical moment of the Second World War, the Battle of the Bulge. The Clervaux diorama by Claude JOACHIM, which depicts a scene from this battle around the castle of Clerf in a detailed model, forms the centrepiece between the war elements and the exceptional exhibition of 22 castles and fortresses in Luxembourg, which have been designed and depicted with precision craftsmanship.

Whether you're looking for a peaceful walk, a family outing or simply a quiet moment outdoors, Konschtpark Clervaux brings together nature, art and recreation in a unique setting. Created on the site of the former mini-golf course, this public park invites visitors to slow down and experience Clervaux from a different perspective. As you wander through the park, contemporary artworks blend seamlessly with natural surroundings and beautiful views across the Clervaux valley. As part of "Clervaux – Cité de l'Image", art plays a central role, while the park itself reflects the Cittaslow philosophy, encouraging visitors to take their time and enjoy their surroundings. Families will find plenty to enjoy, including a large wooden marble run, a giant Nine Men's Morris game, an oversized chessboard, a landscaped pond and several picnic and relaxation areas. Wooden balls for the marble run are available for €2 from the vending machine at the accessible main entrance or from the Visit Clervaux Centre on Benelux Square. Native plants, wildflower meadows and nature-friendly landscaping also help promote biodiversity throughout the park. Wide paths and an accessible panoramic and educational platform ensure that as many visitors as possible can enjoy the site. Whether you come to play, relax or explore, Konschtpark is a place where nature, art and quality time come together.
