The architecture of the Notre-Dame de Lorette Chapel is a remarkable example of Baroque style. Its façade displays refined details and decorations that reflect the craftsmanship of the period. Inside, visitors will discover a rich collection of religious artworks, paintings, and sculptures that highlight the spiritual significance of the site. Perched on the heights above Clervaux, the chapel is set in a peaceful environment that invites contemplation and inner reflection. It is not only an architectural masterpiece but also a place of deep spirituality and cultural memory. To fully discover the richness of this emblematic site, guided tours are offered every first Monday of the month from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM, led by Marie-Justine Thinnes, an expert in religious heritage. The tour begins at the Tourist Center Clervaux. Along the way to the chapel, you’ll learn about the surrounding religious buildings, the Rock of Saint Hubert, the Hermitage, and the historical ties between the Lannoy family and Clervaux. This afternoon visit perfectly complements the morning guided tour of the Abbey Church of Saint Maurice – an ideal opportunity for heritage enthusiasts to spend a full day discovering Clervaux’s spiritual treasures.

The Benedictine Abbey of St Mauritius towers with its bright red roofs over the city of Clervaux. Built in 1909/1910 in the neo-Romanesque style, it was settled by the Benedictines of the French Abbey of St-Maur de Glanfeuil. Today the abbey houses about 12 monks and is not open to visitors. An interesting exhibition in the crypt shows monastic life, and the daily morning mass at 10:00 am in the church offers the opportunity to listen to the monks’ Gregorian chants. The adjacent souvenir shop sells books and art objects as well as on site homemade apple juice.

The church building combines harmonious proportions both outside and inside and is characterised by Original Christian symbols. Its exterior design with the dominant twin-tower façade surrounded by smaller towers gives the building a charming appearance. The basilica-like layout, quarry stone from the Ardennes and ornate mosaics give the church a significant historical presence. Inside, works by Lambert Piedboeuf, including the impressive mosaic in the choir room, create a spiritual atmosphere. The ornate stained glass windows were recreated by Gustav Zanter after the fighting in the Second World War. The organ and bells add to the impressive heritage of this church."

The restaurant ” Les Ecuries du Parc ” – because of its historical origin also called “Pärdsställ” is located in the near vicinity of the town center and about 500m from the railway station of Clervaux, in the rustic building of the former horse stables of the earl of Clervaux. In the year 1968 the family Wilmes rebuilt it into a very special restaurant, unique by its snug and cosy character. An inspiring kitchen, full of variation and tradition, adapted to the seasons, with specialties as f.i. venison from the local woods and fresh mussel dishes, meets every expectation. Of course it is possible to have dinner à la carte: tasteful meat and fish dishes, as well as salads are being served.
